MIKROFYN 3D in VOLVO GRADER – IONIA STREET, STAVROPOULOS CHARIS

Microfyn 3D Automation System using a Robotic Geodetic Station. The System was installed on a Volvo Grader.

The digital study of the project (Digital Terrain Model) is imported with a USB stick into the computer of the 3D Panel System. The Robotic Geodetic Station (PowerTracker) follows the prism (Lock Prism) every moment. The Calculator compares the instantaneous actual position of the knife with the desired one according to the study.

The deviation of the actual from the desired position is eliminated, as the computer commands the knife to raise/lower. It also gives an order to "draw" the Knife (Sideshift). One side of the knife is controlled by the altimeter (prism-PowerTracker) and the other by the knife inclinometer.

The advantages of the 3D TPS System are accuracy (+/- 1cm), speed and savings in material, fuel and personnel (workers/surveyors). In this arrangement the prism can be replaced with a GPS receiver. The GPS arrangement has the advantage that there is no need to change positions of the Geodetic Station.
